Seasonality

What it is

Many products sell more at certain times of year: rosé in summer, sparkling wine before Christmas, gloves in winter. Voorcast finds these patterns in your own sales, product by product and category by category, and takes them into account when it suggests how much to order. There is nothing to switch on and nothing to configure.

Voorcast looks at the season when your order will arrive, not today. If a supplier takes three months to deliver, what counts is demand three months from now.

When you'd use it

  • Before a peak, to see which categories are about to pick up and whether you are stocked for them.
  • When a suggested quantity looks high or low for the time of year.
  • To avoid stock that arrives just as its season ends.

Where you see it

  1. Open Drafts.
  2. On a supplier's draft, look for Coming into season. It lists categories this supplier sells that are heading into their busy period, and how many of those products aren't on the draft yet, for example "3 products not on this draft · season starts in 2 months".
  3. Hover over a product's name in the draft. If its category is seasonal, a Season section says how the timing looks, for example "in season when it lands" at "~1.7x its normal", or "past its season when it lands".

Good to know

  • Voorcast needs about a year of a product's sales before it trusts the product's own pattern, and two years before it relies on it fully. Newer products borrow the pattern of similar products or of their category.
  • A category only counts as seasonal if the pattern repeats across years and most of its products share it. One big promotion won't create a season.
  • Categories come from your product fields, set up under Settings → Field Transformations.
  • No Season section means the category has no clear season, or there isn't enough history yet.
